Is Your Drainfield Failing?
Don't ignore these signs — early action can mean the difference between a repair and a full replacement.
Wet or soggy yard
Standing water or perpetually soggy ground over the drainfield area, even when it hasn't rained.
Sewage odors outside
A sewage smell coming from the yard, especially near the drainfield or septic tank area.
Slow drains inside
Toilets, sinks, and tubs draining slowly throughout the house — a sign the system is backed up.
Sewage backing into the house
Sewage coming back up through drains or toilets is a true emergency. Call us immediately.
Unusually green grass
A patch of grass over the drainfield that's greener than the rest of the yard — a sign of leaching effluent.
High nitrate levels
If you have a well, rising nitrate levels can indicate drainfield failure affecting groundwater.

Drainfield Repair FAQs
What are the signs of a failing drainfield?
Soggy or wet ground over the drainfield, sewage odors in the yard, slow-draining toilets and sinks, and sewage backing up into the house are all signs your drainfield may be failing. Call us immediately — the sooner we can diagnose it, the better chance of avoiding full replacement.
What causes drainfield failure in Florida?
The most common cause is an unpumped septic tank — solids overflow into the drainfield and clog the soil. Florida's seasonal high water tables also put extra stress on drainfields. That's why regular pumping every 3 years is so important here.
Can a failed drainfield be repaired or does it need to be replaced?
It depends on the extent of damage. Sometimes we can restore a drainfield through resting, jetting, or partial repair. In other cases, full replacement is the only option. We'll give you an honest assessment after diagnosis.
How long does drainfield replacement take?
A full drainfield replacement typically takes 2–5 days of field work, plus the time to pull DEP permits. We handle all permitting internally for our service counties.
Is drainfield repair covered by homeowners insurance?
In some cases, yes — particularly if the failure is due to a sudden and accidental cause. Check your policy and we can provide documentation of the damage and repair for your claim.
