Complete ATU Care
From required annual inspections to emergency air pump replacements — we handle every aspect of aerobic treatment unit maintenance and repair.
Annual ATU Inspections
Florida-required annual inspections with written DEP-compliant reports. We keep your system legal and operational.
Air Pump Replacement
Air pump failures are the most common ATU breakdown. We stock parts for most major brands and can replace same-visit in many cases.
Chlorine Tablet Service
ATUs require chlorine for disinfection. We check and replenish chlorine tablets at every visit to ensure proper treatment.
Spray Head Inspection & Repair
Clogged or broken spray heads cause uneven distribution. We inspect, clean, and replace spray heads as needed.
Control Panel & Float Service
Timer and float failures can cause ATU malfunctions. We test, repair, and replace electrical controls and float switches.
ATU Pumping & Cleaning
ATU tanks still accumulate solids and need periodic pumping. We clean all compartments and inspect the full system during service.
Florida ATU Maintenance Is Required by Law
Florida Administrative Code Rule 64E-6 requires all aerobic treatment units to be inspected and serviced by a licensed provider at minimum once per year. Owners who fail to maintain their ATU risk DEP violations, fines, and system shutdown orders.
ATU Maintenance FAQs
What is an ATU (aerobic treatment unit)?
An aerobic treatment unit (ATU) is a type of septic system that uses oxygen to break down waste more thoroughly than conventional systems. They are commonly required in Florida where soil conditions don't support standard drainfields. ATUs produce cleaner effluent and are often required by county health departments in certain areas.
How often does my ATU need to be serviced in Florida?
Florida law requires ATU systems to be inspected at least once per year by a licensed service provider. Most manufacturers recommend quarterly inspections. Routine maintenance includes checking air pumps, spray heads, chlorine levels, and electrical components.
What happens if I don't maintain my ATU?
Neglected ATUs can fail to treat wastewater properly, leading to health hazards, environmental violations, and DEP fines. Mechanical failures — especially air pump failures — can cause sewage backup quickly. Annual inspections are required by law in Florida.
What does your ATU maintenance service include?
Our ATU service includes inspection of all mechanical components (air pump, timer, float switches), checking and replenishing chlorine tablets, testing the spray heads and distribution system, assessing effluent quality, and providing a written service report as required by Florida DEP.
Can you repair my ATU if it's broken?
Yes. We repair and replace ATU components including air pumps, floats, timers, spray heads, and control panels. We service most major brands of aerobic treatment units across all our Florida service areas.
